How to operate MISetup

MISetup accompanies MI during its whole life, from installation to its uninstallation.

With the working method of MISetup we can avoid sending exe files to our customers, since exe files, even packed in zip files will be denied by firewalls often.

MISetup is the only file which has to be downloaded by the user himself and you can configure your firewall to allow the access and download.

With the first launch of MISetup it will copy itself to the folder you have selected as MI’s progam path, usually C:\program files\MI\. After the copy procedure MISetup will shut down and restart from the program folder automatically.

With its first launch MISetup will enter its name to the Windows start menu and can be re-launched via this way. After the installation of a MI version MISetup can also be started via the Mode menu.

The installation procedure is described in section ... that's MI way. With each launch MISetup will check the actual configuration of MI and will report the result in its list in the MISetup dialog and report window.

The figure above shows the conditions of a successful installed full version.

The button in the middle - here labeled with Start Update - initiates always the next step of a setup. The button on the left hand side allows to uninstall MI and its accessories.

With the button on the right hand side, Close MISetup, you can close MISetup. Closing MISetup immediately after an installation or an upgrade of MI, MISetup will automatically launch MI. Otherwise MISetup will close only.

With closing MISetup, the content of the MISetup dialog and report window will be added to the file MISetup.log, which is stored in the folder shown in the text field Auxiliary files. After uninstalling, e.g. with Uninstall full this file will be saved with the actual date and time.

The file contains all actions you've done while creating and maintaining a MI configuration. In case of trouble it can be a source to find out the reason for problems. We suggest  to not delete this file and to mail it to us in case of trouble.

After uninstalling MI its program folder will be empty. Even the MISetup.exe will be removed. We suggest in such a case to re-download the newest version of MISetup instead of storing the MISetup.exe anywhere. In such a way you can be sure to work with the newest version of MISetup always.
